International Conference on Community Development is on the Horizon for Quaich’s partner Mar 25, 2008
Horizons, a Nova-Scotia based Community Development organisation and a partner to The Quaich Inc. are coordinating the International Conference on community development. What’s Working in Community Development? will be held at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia from June 23rd – June 25th, 2008. The conference seeks to exchange learnings about community development, and to build links among community development networks around the world.
“We are very excited about the breadth and depth of presentations and workshops conference delegates are offering” says Cari Paterson, Director of Horizons. “To think that 300 delegates will be coming from around the world to discuss what’s working in community development is a great opportunity for international collaboration” adds Paterson.
Highlights include plenary presentations by Joanne Linzey of the United Way of Canada, and Ron Colman of GPI Atlantic. The conference will also feature presentations from the Canadian International Development Agency’s Afghanistan Task Force, and Democracy 250. In addition, there will also be a new joint publication formally launched at the conference on asset based community development by the International Association for Community Development and the Carnegie UK Trust.
The full conference program is now available, and can be downloaded from www.horizonscda.ca/upcoming
This conference will be a great place to have fun and engage with colleagues in a meaningful way, and to make connections with colleagues from around the world, all in a relaxed and casual environment.
